Best Films of the Decade - #26: Juno (2007)

A touching and simply marvelous little movie about an unexpected teenage pregnancy. By no means traditional subject matter for a comedy, but writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman instill their cast of characters (all of whom were perfectly cast) with a sharp wit and laissez-faire sense of humour. The hipster dialogue may not be totally unbelievable (and is a rather glaring annoyance for the film's detractors), but the feeling behind it is what gives the story it's warmth and sincerity. Ellen Page is great as the sassy title character with a baby growing inside of her, conveying Juno's own growing pains hidden behind her sarcastic tongue and wise-crackery.
